Our Teachers

There is a small village behind the St. Mary Magdalen Religious Education program, and that village is called community. We have priests, deacons, catechists, assistants, teen helpers and family members. We even have young curriculum testers ensuring all of our lessons are age appropriate, engaging and worthy of a final thumbs up by the children themselves.  One shoe does not fit all. We strive to meet the diverse needs of all children entrusted to our care in their Journey with Jesus and His church.

All of our onsite catechists and assistants meet Archdiocesan guidelines, are Virtus certified and in good moral standing with the Church.

Environment

St. Mary Magdalen Religious Education firmly believes in the benefits of creating a safe, welcoming and intriguing environment for all classes and gatherings. Wouldn’t we agree that a good book is even better with wonderful illustrations? Why should the classroom atmosphere be any different? An engaging class session has a story to tell! Let's make it a best seller for Him.

We spend a considerable amount of time exploring ways to incorporate sights, sounds and oftentimes even aroma enhancements (fresh baked goods) into our class environment. Church should be an extension of a happy home, and if the children can experience a sense of comfort when entering the hall for class then we have achieved our goal.

Our hope is for every child to feel loved and welcomed!

Empowering God’s Children

We at St. Mary Magdalen Religious Education are committed to your child’s safety and well-being. We recognize how important it is to “empower” our children and young people with the knowledge and understanding of ways to keep themselves and others safe from potential harm.

The Empowering God’s Children and Young People© Safety Program is provided by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as an ongoing effort to educate children and young people through classroom lessons and activities on ways to maintain their own personal safety. It is based on catechetical principals to help them know they are loved by God and that He wants them to be healthy and safe.

Each year here at St. Mary Magdalen Religious Education we rely upon Ephesians 2:10 to serve as a solid foundation in implementing the Safety Program … “We are God’s original Masterpiece.”  Each person is created in the image and likeness of God.

Behind the Scenes

The moment a lesson is created all hands are on deck to bring your child the best experience. We design, we brainstorm, we shop, we build, we clean, we pray and we anticipate the moment your child walks in that door with wide eyes and an open heart
